Ponnani is a municipality located in Ponnani Taluk within the Malappuram District of Kerala, India. It serves as the primary administrative center for both the taluk and the Block Panchayat of the same name.
The town is situated at the estuary of the Bharatappuzha river on its southern bank. Geographically, it is bounded by the Arabian Sea to the west and a series of brackish lagoons to the south.
