Marayur, also known as Marayoor, is a town located in the Devikulam taluk of the Idukki district in the southwestern Indian state of Kerala. It sits at an elevation of approximately 990 metres above mean sea level and is positioned 42 kilometers north of Munnar on State Highway 17, which connects Munnar with Udumalpet in Tamil Nadu.
The town is notable for being the only location in Kerala that contains natural sandalwood forests. Additionally, Marayur features archaeological significance, housing ancient rock paintings and dolmens that date back to the Stone Age. As of 1991, the town had a recorded population of 9,590.
