Kumbalangi is an island village located on the outskirts of Kochi city in the state of Kerala, India. Situated approximately 12 km (7.5 mi) from the city center, it is positioned amidst the region's backwaters.
The village is recognized as India's first eco-tourism village, according to the government agency Kerala Tourism. It serves as a major tourist attraction known for its Chinese fishing nets and the natural phenomenon of bioluminescence in the backwaters, which is locally referred to as Kavaru.
