Kalpetta is a Grade 2 municipality located in the Wayanad district of Kerala, India. It serves as the headquarters for both the Wayanad district and the Vythiri taluk. The town is situated at an altitude of approximately 780 meters above sea level and lies along the Kozhikode-Mysore National Highway (NH 766).
The geography surrounding Kalpetta is characterized by mountains and dense plantations of coffee and tea. It is positioned roughly 72 km from Kozhikode and 140 km from Mysore. Kainatty serves as the administrative suburb for the municipality.
