Kakkanad is a major industrial and residential area located in Kochi, Kerala, India. It serves as the administrative headquarters of the Ernakulam district and functions as the administrative hub for the Thrikkakara municipality.
Situated approximately 7 km (4.3 mi) east of Kochi's city centre, the term Kakkanad also refers to a broader geographic area. This region encompasses the Thrikkakara municipality along with the built-up areas in the western parts of the neighboring Kunnathunad grama panchayat.
