Edappal is a town located in the Malappuram district of Kerala, India. It is situated near the town of Ponnani within the Ponnani taluk, specifically at the junction of the Thrissur-Kuttippuram and Palakkad-Ponnani state highways. The town is positioned approximately 45 km from Malappuram and falls within two panchayaths: Vattamkulam and Edappal.
The area is geographically characterized by its location in the Ponnani Kole Wetlands and its surroundings by the Biyyam backwater lake of Ponnani. Historically, Edappal contains Sukapuram, which is recognized as one of the earliest Brahmin settlements in Kerala. According to the 2011 Census, Edappal forms a portion of the Malappuram metropolitan area.
