Aluva, formerly known as Alwaye, is a major town and municipality located in the northern part of the Kochi metropolitan area in the Indian state of Kerala. It serves as the administrative headquarters of the Aluva taluk within the Ernakulam district.
Situated on the banks of the Periyar River, the town functions as an important residential, commercial, and transportation hub. It is positioned northeast of central Kochi and is recognized as a primary gateway between Kochi and central Kerala.
