Aluva, formerly known as Alwaye, is a major town and municipality located in the northern part of the Kochi metropolitan area in the Indian state of Kerala. It serves as the administrative headquarters of Aluva taluk within the Ernakulam district.
Situated on the banks of the Periyar River, the town functions as an important residential, commercial, and transportation hub. Due to its geographic position northeast of central Kochi, it is recognized as a primary gateway between Kochi and central Kerala.
