Alappuzha, also known as Alleppey, is a municipality and town situated on the Laccadive Sea in the southern Indian state of Kerala. It serves as the district headquarters for the Alappuzha District and is located approximately 130 km (80.8 mi) north of Thiruvananthapuram, which is the state capital.
According to the 2011 Indian census, the town has a population of 240,991 people with a population density of 3,675 per square kilometer (9,520 per square mile).
