Udhampur is a city and municipal council located in the Udhampur district of the Indian union territory of Jammu and Kashmir. It serves as the administrative headquarters for the district and was named in honor of Raja Udham Singh.
The city functions as an important military hub, housing the Northern Command headquarters of the Indian Army and a Forward Base Support Unit (FBSU) of the Indian Air Force. Additionally, Udhampur serves as a key transit point for the Armed Forces traveling by road between Jammu and Srinagar via National Highway 44.
