Srinagar is a city located in Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir within the disputed Kashmir region. It serves as the largest city and the summer capital of the union territory of Jammu and Kashmir. Situated in the Kashmir Valley, the city lies along the banks of the Jhelum River and on the shores of Dal Lake and Anchar Lakes, positioned between the Hari Parbat and Shankaracharya hills.
The city is recognized for its natural environment, which includes various gardens, waterfronts, and houseboats. It is also a center for traditional Kashmiri handicrafts, specifically known for carpet weaving, wood carving, jewel making, papier-mâché, and the Kashmir shawl.
