Kishtwar

Kishtwar is a town, municipality, and administrative headquarters of the Kishtwar district located in the Jammu division of Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir. The district was established in 2007 after being carved out of the Doda district.

The town is situated approximately 209.5 km from Srinagar and 211.5 km from Jammu. Historically, the area was known as "Kashtvatha," a name recorded in the Rajatarangini by Kalhana Pandita in 1148 CE. A prominent local landmark is the Chowgan ground, which is located in the center of the town.
