Jammu is a city located in Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir within the Jammu division. It serves as the winter capital of the union territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
The city is situated on the banks of the river Tawi and covers an area of 240 km2 (93 sq mi). Geographically, it is bordered by the Himalayas to the north and the northern plains to the south.
