Baramula

Baramulla, also referred to as Varmul in Kashmiri, is a city and municipality situated in the Baramulla district of the Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir region. It serves as the administrative headquarters for the district and is located within the Kashmir Valley on the foothills of the Pir Panjal Range.

The city is positioned on the banks of the River Jhelum, downstream from Srinagar, which is the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir. Historically known as the gateway of Kashmir, Baramulla functioned as a primary distribution center for goods entering the Kashmir Valley via the Jhelum valley cart road.
