Sirsa is a city and municipal council located in the Sirsa district within the westernmost region of Haryana, India. It serves as a regional center situated near the Thar Desert, approximately 250 kilometres north-west of New Delhi and 260 kilometres south-west of Chandigarh. The city borders the states of Punjab and Rajasthan.
The history of Sirsa dates back to the era of the Mahabharata. Geologically and historically, the area is notable for having been a location where the Sarasvati River once flowed. Its nearest neighboring cities include Hisar, Fatehabad, Ellenabad, Bhadra, Nohar, Mandi Dabwali, and Hanumangarh.
