Panchkula is a city and district headquarters located in the state of Haryana, India. It serves as a satellite city of the state capital, Chandigarh, and is situated approximately 4 kilometers southeast of the capital. The city is part of the Greater Chandigarh region and forms part of the Chandigarh Tricity metropolitan area alongside Mohali and Chandigarh.
The name Panchkula originates from the phrase "the place where five irrigation canals meet." Geographically, it serves as a border city connecting Haryana with Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, and Chandigarh. It is located roughly 105 kilometers southwest of Shimla, 44 kilometers from Ambala, and 259 kilometers northeast of New Delhi.
