Kaithal is a city and municipal council located in the Kaithal district of the Indian state of Haryana. Situated in the north-west region of the state, it serves as the administrative headquarters for its namesake district.
The city was historically part of the Karnal district and later the Kurukshetra district before becoming a separate entity on November 1, 1989. Geographically, Kaithal shares borders with the Patiala district in the state of Punjab, as well as the Kurukshetra, Jind, and Karnal districts within Haryana.
