The indri, also known as the babakoto, is one of the largest living species of lemur. These primates possess a head-body length of approximately 64 to 72 cm and weigh between 6 and 9.5 kg. They are characterized by a black and white coat and maintain an upright posture while climbing or clinging to trees.
These herbivorous animals primarily feed on leaves, though their diet also includes seeds, fruits, and flowers. Indris live in small, monogamous family groups that move through the forest canopy. They are notably vocal creatures, communicating with other groups through various vocalizations, including singing and roaring.
