Kandla is a census town located in the Kutch district of Gujarat state in Western India. It is situated near the city of Gandhidham, occupying an area of 2.970 km2 (1.147 sq mi) on the coast of the Gulf of Cutch along the banks of the Kandla Creek.
According to the 2011 Census of India, Kandla is the census town in the country with more than 15 thousand inhabitants within its urban area. The city's entire economic activity is centered on Kandla Port, which serves as one of the major ports of India on the west coast. It is recognized as a primary hub for importing oil and exporting grains.
