Bawana is a census town located in the North West district of Delhi, India. It was originally founded by two Gaur Brahmins named Kala and Thukrai.
The area is notable for housing the Bawana Fortress of Zail, which served as a Zail headquarter. This fortress was constructed by the Chief of the Bawana Zail, one of the four primary Zails of Delhi during the British Raj, alongside the Zails of Mehrauli, Dilli, and Najafgarh.
