Namrup is an industrial town located in the extreme southeastern part of Assam, India. It is situated near the foothills of the Patkai Hills and is characterized by a landscape featuring wet-paddy fields, indigenous Assamese villages, orchards, large tea gardens, and densely forested hills. The Dihing, also known as the Disang river, flows through the town.
Administratively, Namrup falls within the Dibrugarh district. It is positioned approximately 75 km southeast of Dibrugarh by road and 50 km south of Tinsukia. The town serves as a railway station on the Dibrugarh-Guwahati broad-gauge line and is located roughly 500 km east of Guwahati, the largest city in Northeast India.
