Makum is a town and a town area committee located in the Tinsukia district of Assam, India. It serves as a significant geographic meeting point for three premier towns in upper Assam: Tinsukia, Digboi, and Doomdooma.
The town is a notable transportation hub where National Highway 37 and National Highway 38 intersect. Additionally, the Makum railway station holds the distinction of being the easternmost railway junction of the Indian Railways, with its rail line becoming operational on July 16, 1883.
