Golaghat

Golaghat is a city and municipality located in the Indian state of Assam. It serves as the administrative headquarters for the Golaghat district, which was established as a full-fledged district on October 5, 1987. The city is situated approximately 55 km from Jorhat, with which it is considered a twin city.

As one of the oldest urban areas in Assam, Golaghat was recently nominated for the Smart Cities initiative alongside Guwahati and four other prominent urban centers. The Dhansiri River, a tributary of the Brahmaputra, flows through the city and serves as its primary water source.
