Tirupati is a city located in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. It serves as the administrative headquarters for the Tirupati district and is situated approximately 150 km from Chennai, 250 km from Bangalore, and 416 km from Vijayawada.
The city is recognized for its significant religious and cultural heritage, most notably as the home of the Tirumala Venkateswara Temple. This major Hindu pilgrimage site is one of the eight Svayam Vyakta Kshetras dedicated to the deity Vishnu. In addition to this primary temple, the city contains several other historic temples.
