Kadiri is a major city located in the Sri Sathya Sai District of Andhra Pradesh, India. It serves as the headquarters for both the Kadiri Mandal and the Kadiri Revenue Division. The town functions as a Special Grade Municipal City Council and was historically significant as the largest taluk in the state of Andhra Pradesh.
The city is primarily known for its production of jasmine and saffron flowers, with its saffron being widely distributed across the states of Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka. Culturally, it is home to the Sri Lakshmi Narasimhaswamy Temple, a site recognized by people in Karnataka, Telangana, and Tamil Nadu. Historically, the town was originally named Khadripuram due to the prevalence of khadara plants in the surrounding forests.
