Anantapur, officially known as Ananthapuramu, is a city located in the Anantapur district of the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. It serves as the mandal headquarters for Anantapuru and functions as the divisional headquarters for the Anantapur revenue division. The city is situated along National Highway 44.
Historically, Anantapur served as the headquarters of the Datta Mandalam in 1799 and was a site of strategic importance for the British Indian Army during the Second World War. The city currently has a GDP of $1.728 billion.
