Palopo, also known as Kota Palopo, is a city located in the province of South Sulawesi, Indonesia. It serves as the second-largest city within the province and covers a total land area of 273.23 km2.
Historically, Palopo served as the capital of Luwu Regency until it officially acquired city autonomy on April 10, 2002. The city's population has fluctuated over recent years; according to census data and official estimates, the population was recorded at 184,681 in 2020 and reached an estimated 190,867 by mid-2022 before returning to approximately 184,961 by mid-2025.
