Korem is a town and separate woreda situated in the Tigray Region of Ethiopia. It is positioned on the eastern edge of the Ethiopian Highlands within the Southern Zone, at an elevation of 2539 meters above sea level. The town is located along Ethiopian Highway 2 and is surrounded by the Wefla woreda.
Geographically, Korem lies within the endorheic basin of the Afar Triangle, meaning the streams in the vicinity do not reach the ocean. Notable nearby landmarks include Lake Ashenge, which is situated approximately six kilometers to the north of the town. The coordinates for Korem are 12°30′N 39°31′E.
