Prabumulih is a city located in the province of South Sumatra, Indonesia. It is situated at the geographic coordinates 3°25′58″S 104°14′8″E and lies within the heart of the province. The city is primarily surrounded by Muara Enim Regency, with a small portion bordering Penukal Abab Lematang Ilir Regency.
The city was originally part of Muara Enim Regency before being established as an independent administrative entity on June 21, 2001. It covers a total area of 447.31 km². According to census data and official estimates, the population grew from 161,814 in 2010 to approximately 213,523 by mid-2024.
