Muara Enim is a town located in Indonesia and serves as the regency seat of the Muara Enim Regency in the South Sumatra Province. The town functions as a central administrative hub for the surrounding region.
The geography of the regency is characterized by its relationship with the city of Prabumulih, which acts as an administrative body separating the main southern portion of Muara Enim from its northern section. Historically, the regency covered an area of 8,587.94 km² with a population of 717,717 as of the 2010 Census.
Significant administrative changes occurred in late 2012 when five districts were split from the Muara Enim Regency to establish the new Penukal Abab Lematang Ilir Regency. These changes modified the total land area and population distribution of the original regency boundaries.
