Manado is the capital city of the Indonesian province of North Sulawesi. Located on the island of Sulawesi, it serves as the second-largest city in the region following Makassar.

The city is situated on the Bay of Manado and is surrounded by a mountainous area. As of mid-2025, official estimates place the population at 462,658 inhabitants across a land area of 162.35 km2. The broader Manado metropolitan area had a population of 1,377,815 as of mid-2023.
