Tasikmalaya is a landlocked city located in the province of West Java, Indonesia. It is situated approximately 120 kilometres (75 mi) southeast of Bandung, which serves as the provincial capital.
The city is notably characterized by its high concentration of Islamic boarding schools, leading to its nickname "kota santri" or "the City of a Thousand Pesantrens." It is also served by Indonesian National Route 3.
