Sumedang

Sumedang is a town located in Western Java, Indonesia. It serves as the capital of the Sumedang Regency and is situated approximately 46 km northeast of Bandung, which is the provincial capital.

The town consists of two administrative districts (kecamatan) covering a combined area of 125.32 km2. As of mid-2025, its population was recorded at 184,293. Geographically, Sumedang is positioned just south of Mount Tampomas, a volcano reaching an elevation of 1,684 meters (5,525 ft) that is typically accessed via the Cimalaka District.
