Malati (1967–1987), born Sahayaseeli Pedhuruppillai, was a prominent female fighter for the Sri Lankan Tamil Tigers. She is historically recognized as the first female martyr of the organization to die in combat.
Her death served as a significant milestone that paved the way for other women to join the Tamil Tigers at all levels, where they subsequently played important roles. In recognition of her sacrifice, her death anniversary is commemorated annually as Women's Awakening Day.
