Depok is a landlocked city located in the West Java province of Indonesia. Situated directly south of Jakarta, it serves as the third largest urban center within the Greater Jakarta metropolitan area. The city covers an area of approximately 199.91 km2 and transitioned into an independent city on April 20, 1999, after previously being part of the Bogor Regency.
The city is recognized as a significant hub for commerce and education. As of mid-2024, Depok has an estimated population of 2,163,635, resulting in a population density of about 10,823 people per km2. It ranks as the second most populous suburban city in Indonesia and is among the ten most populous suburban cities globally.
