Berastagi is a town and district located in the Karo Regency of Northern Sumatra, Indonesia. It sits at an elevation of approximately 1,300 meters (4,265 feet) above sea level and serves as a key crossroads on the primary route connecting the coastal city of Medan to the Karo highlands.
The town is situated about 66 kilometers (41 miles) south of Medan. It gained historical significance during the 1920s when Dutch settlers established a boarding school in the area.
