Lake Singkarak is a lake located in West Sumatra, Indonesia, situated between the regencies of Tanah Datar and Solok Regency. The body of water covers an area of 107.8 km2 and measures approximately 21 km in length and 7 km in width.
The natural outlet for excess water from the lake is the Ombilin River, which flows eastward to the Strait of Malacca. However, a hydroelectric project has diverted most of the outflow to the Anai River, which flows westward into the Indian Ocean near Padang. This Singkarak power station generates electricity for the provinces of West Sumatra and Riau.
The lake is home to a species of fish known as ikan bilih, which is endemic to the area and harvested for human consumption. Additionally, a railway line connecting Padang and Sawahlunto-Sijunjung runs along the eastern side of the lake.
