Bukittinggi is an enclave city located in the Minangkabau Highlands of West Sumatra, Indonesia. It is situated approximately 90 km by road from Padang, the capital of West Sumatran province. The city covers a total area of 24.84 km² and is completely surrounded by the Agam Regency.
Located at an elevation of 930 meters above sea level, Bukittinggi features a cool climate with temperatures typically ranging between 16.1°C and 24.9°C. The city is positioned near two notable volcanoes: the inactive Mount Singgalang and Mount Marapi. As of mid-2025, the city has an estimated population of 125,920.
