Totok is an Indonesian term derived from Javanese origin used to identify recent migrants from Arab, Chinese, or European backgrounds. The term specifically refers to individuals of "pure blood" who have recently arrived in Indonesia.
The designation gained popularity during the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries among colonists residing in Batavia. It was established as a distinction between new immigrants and those of mixed indigenous and foreign descent, such as Peranakan Arabs, Chinese, or Europeans.
