Tado is a historical village located in southeast Togo along the Mono River. It is situated near the border with Benin, positioned between the cities of Notsé in central southern Togo and Abomey in Benin.
The village served as the former royal city of the Kingdom of Tado, which was one of the oldest and most powerful kingdoms in southwest Africa. The kingdom lasted for over 900 years and is noted as the birthplace of numerous West African tribes, civilizations, cultures, and bloodlines that spread across Togo, Benin, Ghana, Ivory Coast, and Nigeria.
