Lwa, also referred to as loa, are spirits within the African diasporic religion of Haitian Vodou. These entities have also been incorporated into various revivalist forms of Louisiana Voodoo.
Many lwa derive their identities from deities found in traditional West African religions, specifically those of the Fon and Yoruba peoples.
