Indonesia

Koten (also known as Köten) was a Cuman–Kipchak chieftain and military commander who was active during the mid-13th century. He is primarily recognized for his role in forging an alliance with the Kievan Rus' to oppose the Mongol expansion.

Following a significant defeat by the Mongols at the Kalka River in 1223, Köten led approximately 40,000 "huts" to Hungary. While there, he became an ally of the Hungarian king and converted to Catholicism; however, he was eventually assassinated by the Hungarian nobility.
