Fu'an is a county-level city located in the Ningde prefecture-level city of northeast Fujian province, People's Republic of China. It is situated approximately 150 kilometres (93 mi) north of Fuzhou, the provincial capital.
The city is part of the Min Dong linguistic and cultural region, which it shares with Fuzhou and the county-level city of Cangnan in Zhejiang province. Geographically, Fu'an is one of the areas closest to the Matsu Islands, an archipelago of 36 islands located within Lienchiang county in Taiwan.
