Tangga is an Oceanic language located in the province of New Ireland, Indonesia. It is primarily spoken on the islands of Tanga and Feni, as well as in several villages within the Tanglamet area of Namatanai, including Sena, Muliama, and Varangansau.
The language is characterized by significant internal divergence among its various locations. While the communities share a common history of migration from Tanga and Feni to New Ireland, the dialects are so distinct that children from different areas understand little to nothing of one another. Consequently, adults in these regions generally consider them to be separate languages.
