Palangka Raya, also known as Palangkaraya, is the capital and largest city of the Indonesian province of Central Kalimantan. It is located on the island of Borneo, situated specifically between the Kahayan and Sabangau rivers.
The city holds the distinction of being the largest city in Indonesia by land area. However, a significant majority of this territory consists of forested regions, which include nature conservation areas, protected forests, and the Tangkiling Forest. As of mid-2025, the official population estimate for the city is 318,247.
