Banjarmasin is the largest city in South Kalimantan, Indonesia, and serves as one of the primary cities on the island of Borneo. Located on a delta island near the confluence of the Barito and Martapura rivers, it covers an area of 98.37 km2 (37.98 sq mi). The city served as the provincial capital until February 15, 2022.
Historically, Banjarmasin was the center of Banjarese culture and functioned as the capital of the Sultanate of Banjar. It is currently the third most populous city on Borneo, with an estimated population of approximately 682,360 as of mid-2025.
