Sanggau Regency is located in the north-central section of the West Kalimantan province in Indonesia. The region covers an area of 12,452.22 km² (4,807.83 sq mi) following the creation of Sekadau Regency from its eastern portion on December 18, 2003.
As of mid-2025, the official population estimate for Sanggau Regency is approximately 516,710. It is distinguished as one of four regencies in West Kalimantan with a predominantly Catholic population, alongside Landak, Sekadau, and Sintang.
