Tawang is a town located in the Indian state of Arunachal Pradesh. It serves as the administrative headquarters for the Tawang district and lies along the NH-13 section of the Trans-Arunachal Highway.
Historically, the town was the headquarters of the Tawang Tract, an area that has since been divided into the current Tawang and West Kameng districts. Today, Tawang remains the primary tourist destination within the state of Arunachal Pradesh.
