Tanah Merah is a town located in the South Papua province of Indonesia. It is situated on the bank of the Digul River within the interior of Western New Guinea, approximately two hundred miles from the city of Merauke.
The town serves as the administrative center for the Boven Digoel Regency. As of mid-2023, Tanah Merah covered an area of 225.68 km2 and had a recorded population of 12,261 residents.
