Maron

Indonesia

Maron was a 4th-century Syriac Christian hermit monk who resided in the Taurus Mountains. Following his death, his followers established a religious Christian movement that eventually became known as the Maronite Church.

The Maronite Church is currently in full communion with both the Holy See and the Catholic Church. The modern Maronites are the religious community that grew from this original movement founded by Maron.
